What is the Procedure Like?
Prior to your appointment you will receive an online intake form to complete and a simple 24 hour protocol for you to follow prior to your imaging appointment to ensure that your procedure is successful. On the day of your appointment you will be greeted by Carol Fowler, Certified Clinical Thermographic Technician with over 7 years of experience, together we will review your completed intake form, answer any questions you may about Thermography and also discuss the report you will receive from our Board Certified Thermologist (which you will receive approximately 14 days after your imaging appointment).
You will then be escorted to the imaging room where you will spend approximately 15 minutes acclimating to the temperature of the room. During this acclimation time, you will undress from the waist up while seated for 10 minutes. Your arms will be placed on the arms of the chair, you will not be able to access your cell phone and cannot touch yourself during this short time. During the remaining 5 minutes of acclimation time you will place your hands above your head standing in position in front of the infrared camera. Once acclimated, multiple images will be taken within a few short minutes from different angles by the infrared camera. Once your imaging appointment is finished, these images will be uploaded through a secure portal to Board Certified Thermologist, Dr. William Amalu for interpretation. A comprehensive report will be sent to you via email within 14 days containing your results. You may share this report with your primary health care provider.
How do I Prepare for My Appointment?
Before you arrive for your thermogram, certain protocols must be followed in order to ensure that your images reflect accurate information. Please read these instructions and strictly adhere to them:
No prolonged sun exposure (especially sunburn) to the body areas being imaged 5 days prior to the exam.
No use of deodorants, lotions, creams, powders, or makeup (no facial makeup for full body or upper body scans) the day of the exam.
No shaving of the areas to be imaged the day of the exam.
No treatment (chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS, physical therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, hot or cold pack use) or physical stimulation of the areas to be imaged for 24 hours before the exam.
No exercise 4 hours prior to the exam.
If bathing, it must be no closer than 1 hour before the exam.
If you are using pain medications, please avoid taking them for 4 hours prior to the examination. You must consult with the prescribing physician for his or her consent prior to any change in medication use such as this.
You must wait at least 4 weeks after having a fine needle or core biopsy of the breast before a thermogram can be performed.
You must wait at least 8 weeks after having a lumpectomy or surgical biopsy of the breast before a thermogram can be performed.
If you have had any surgical procedure within the last 12 weeks, please notify our office before coming in for your appointment.

Once you make your appointment, an online health history intake form will be emailed to you prior to your appointment. Please complete this intake form prior to your appointment.
